Bill Wilka is the partner who heads the firms commercial litigation and dispute resolution practice. He has tried jury and non-jury cases and successfully handled numerous appeals in both state and federal courts. Bill is particularly skilled in negotiation with wide experience in alternative dispute resolution, and has represented numerous clients in mediation and arbitration. He was voted a "Super Lawyer" by his peers for his work in Alternative Dispute Resolution, as reflected in the 2007 edition of the Northern California "Super Lawyer" magazine. Bill's litigation experience includes: Representing businesses and individuals in trade secret and unfair competition actions, including disputes arising out of non-competition and confidentiality agreements Representing companies and individuals (and in particular executives of technology companies) in employment termination matters, including negotiation of severance terms and representation in the event of litigation Disputes that arise out of the purchase and sale of a business, stock transfers and the formation and dissolution of partnership and limited liability entities Representing property owners and developers in claims arising out of the use, purchase, sale or exchange of real property Representing businesses in numerous contract disputes, including distributorship, franchise termination, licensing issues and recovering amounts owed by other businesses and individuals Obtaining - and where necessary defending against - injunctions and restraining orders arising out of unfair business practices, statutory violations and the transfer of confidential business information Protecting clients interests in intellectual property rights in copyright, trademark and trade dress disputes Securing insurance coverage for intellectual property rights based upon claims of infringement of trademark, trade dress, copyright and patent rights Successfully defending lending institutions against claims of lender liability and securities violations Bill earned his undergraduate degree magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in 1972, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1975.
