Thomas J. Stikker specializes in estate planning, probate and trust matters. A 1978 graduate of the University of Wyoming, receiving his J.D. in 1982 from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, Tom is also a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. Tom is the co-editor of the four-volume California Probate Practice
treatise by Matthew Bender & Co. Among other publications, he
is the co-author of a chapter entitled "Lifetime Gifts and Transfers
for Consideration," in CEB 's 2-volume set, Estate Planning Practice,
the co-author of an article Grits, Grats and Defective Grantor Trusts:
The Best Laid Plans in New York University 58 th Institute on Federal
Taxation, 2000, the co-author of an article entitled Title Insurance
for Estate Planning Transfers, in Probate and Property, May/June
1998, and the author of an article entitled "Decline in Value of
Estate's Assets Does Not Always Call for Use of Alternate Valuation Date,"
in Estate Planning Magazine, September/October 1989. Tom is a frequent
speaker on estate planning and administration topics. Tom's broad-based practice includes estate and related tax planning for individuals and families, business succession planning, charitable gift planning, trust and estate administration matters, guardianships and conservatorships and advising California fiduciaries regarding trusts and estates.
